Bistro 140's Eggplant Parmigiana

Day 120

Today is Valentine's Day and Laura and I had made dinner reservations at Bistro 140 to enjoy a night of fine dining with no cooking and no mess.

Eggplant Parmigiana

Friends at the Bistro

Overall it was a fun experience, as we were immediately warmly greeted by Paul, one of the owners, and then Tim, another dear friend whom we don't see nearly often enough. After we were seated, Gisele came in and sat next to us. She was kind enough to help out with some of the pics for the blog tonight.

Here is a pic she took of us!

Here is one I took of her! So fun :)

Appetizer

The appetizer was so delicious. It was Warm Spinach Salad, which was a bed of spinach with tomatoes, diced red onion, and feta with a tangy dressing. I forgot to take a picture of it. Boooo!

Entree

The entree was Eggplant Parmigiana and I thought it was fantastic. This is the second time we've had this dish at the Bistro and it was better this time than the last. The eggplant was firmer and the exterior was crunchier. The cheese was cooked until slightly brown and was chewy and perfectly seasoned. It was served on a bed of spaghetti noodles with a tomato sauce. The tomato sauce tasted like it was made from scratch using canned tomatoes and I loved it. It didn't come with any sort of bread, as pasta dishes generally do, but I flagged Paul down and asked him to bring us some rolls and we were promptly served warm wheat roll with butter on the side. I also asked our server to bring more parmesan cheese, which she did.

Dessert

Again, I forgot to get a picture. Seriously, what is wrong with me? I had to ask my good friend Gisele to take a pic of hers, since it was served after mine was long gone. She had the same dessert as Laura ordered and the man sitting across from her had ordered the same dessert as me. Of course I tried Laura's dessert and she tried mine. Both were really good.

Entertainment

The Bistro had an entertainer there this evening as well; Matthew Palmer played and sang for us, and he sounds amazing! The music added that extra ambiance that made it feel like a special night, rather than just any night. I felt bad because I didn't have very much cash on me so I didn't tip him as much as I wanted to. Next time I will be more prepared.

Review/Comments

It was nice, it was romantic, and it was delicious. I give the meal a 10 and the experience another 10.

Laura agreed the meal was good!
