BK Veggie Burgers

Day 354

Wednesday, October 7

BK Veggie Burgers

We had good intentions of making some real food, but it never came to fruition as Laura was having back pain and I was painting.

Took Cian Guy Along for the Ride

Did not get a pic of the food, however, here is a pic of Cian Guy at Burger King, one of his favorite places in town.

We ate, then it was back to the painting. I did get a pic of that, too.

Greco Garlic Fingers

Day 353

Greco Garlic Fingers

We are Not Ashamed

We cheated and ordered garlic fingers. There is little nutrition to be found in garlic fingers. Only a big, fat pile of deliciousness and calories.

Suspected Ingredients
  • Flour
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Crack, or something equally addictive

We divided the box of fingers in half and watched an episode of How to Get Away with Murder while we demolished them.

Greco box

Donair Sauce

We got an extra donair sauce so we didn't have to share and didn't want to run out of it before running out of tasty garlic fingers.

Reviews/Comments

Quite good! Not burnt this time, which was great. Christian Mazerolle would have enjoyed them very much indeed!

Chatters Sushi & Lo Mein

Day 343

Sushi & Lo Mein

Celebration Food

Chatters for Ryan MacIsaac's 33rd birthday to celebrate his life, which no one is taking for granted these days. So many wonderful people to share a meal with. Lots of laughs and good eats.

Ryan & friends

We ordered the vegetable lo mein and vegetable sushi which comes with a sample of vegetable tempura and miso soup.

Birthday Cake

For dessert there was cake!

McDonalds Mediterranean Wrap

Day 335

I didn't get a pic of this so I stole one online. I suppose I should link the article so they at least get the kudos. Ours wasn't the same as the one shown, either.

They were okay. I give it a 5. I like the crispy fried onions. I don't think ours had a red sauce though, it looked like ranch to me.

Take-Out Menu

Starving and tired, so we ordered out. I placed the order online and went over to pick it up. Took the dog with me. Easy breezy.

This pizza is pretty good, although I find it a bit oily. Like they drizzle olive oil over it or something. Good though!

It's Saturday now, and I'm playing catch-up with the blog because it was a tiresome week and I made pickles instead of blogging on the nights I wasn't out visiting someone, but as I recall we enjoyed our meal. PD definitely makes the best garlic fingers.

Boston Pizza: Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Day 299

This is not really supper, just a disappointing snack that was ordered from Boston Pizza. If you've been following along, you may have noticed that Spinach & Artichoke Dip is one of our new favs. We have ordered it from BP a few times now and made our own at home a few times as well.

Since we're jamming today, and the kitchen is a mess of berries, jars and jam ingredients, we decided it might be better not to simultaneously try to cook supper, so we ordered out to tide us over until after the jam-making is done.

Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Normally, we split an order of BP spin dip with an extra order of bread, because there is always plenty of dip to share. Today, I opted for a Pita Pit falafel sandwich and Laura got the BP spin dip with the expectation that there would be leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Not to be! When I brought it home, she opened it and asked, "Who ate the other half?" I looked and here is what I saw:

Boston Pizza Spinach & Artichoke Dip

This is less than half the amount of dip they usually served with this order. This pic was taken before we even touched it. I feel like we got ripped off today. This is not $10.95 (+ tx & tip $14.23) worth of food! Boooo. Probably won't be getting this again.

Laura rates it a 5 overall. Out of 10. That's not good.

Bistro 140: Portobello le Cendrillon Penne

Day 283

Portobello le Cendrillon Penne

Tonight we had dinner at the Bistro 140 for the annual Miramichi Pride Dinner & Cruise. The dinner selections are pre-ordered in order to serve the entire crowd at once, but there are a few options for everyone. I don't know what the meat options were, but this year our options included:

  • Eggplant Parmigiana
  • Portobello le Cendrillon Penne
  • Vegetable Lasagne Crepe

Portobello le Cendrillon Penne

We both opted for the Portobello le Cendrillon Penne. No regrets! Overall, it was a terrific meal to kick off a terrific evening.

Greco's Burnt Garlic Fingers

Day 238

Only a day after the burnt pizza, too.

Greco box

Burnt Garlic Fingers

No, we did not reheat these. They came this way. Not sure if they put them through the oven twice or what. Perhaps not completely burnt, but very, very, very overdone. Yes, we ate them anyway. Yes, they were tough as heck.

Pita Pit Falafel

Day 178

Welp. I did it again. Did not take pics of our food. I had great intentions and even snapped one of Pita Pit when I got there. Ordered our falafel sandwiches, had a say with Greg Grattan who was picking up his and Vanessa's dinner as well, then I took my sandwiches home and we ate. Then remembered the camera.

I like Pita Pit. The sandwich is pretty much always the same thing. I got falafel with baba ganoush and lots of vegetables. I rate it an 8.

What else is new, eh? Same thing we always order.

Bistro 140's Eggplant Parmigiana

Day 120

Today is Valentine's Day and Laura and I had made dinner reservations at Bistro 140 to enjoy a night of fine dining with no cooking and no mess.

Eggplant Parmigiana

Friends at the Bistro

Overall it was a fun experience, as we were immediately warmly greeted by Paul, one of the owners, and then Tim, another dear friend whom we don't see nearly often enough. After we were seated, Gisele came in and sat next to us. She was kind enough to help out with some of the pics for the blog tonight.

Here is a pic she took of us!

Laura & I

Here is one I took of her! So fun :)

Gisele

Appetizer

The appetizer was so delicious. It was Warm Spinach Salad, which was a bed of spinach with tomatoes, diced red onion, and feta with a tangy dressing. I forgot to take a picture of it. Boooo!

Entree

The entree was Eggplant Parmigiana and I thought it was fantastic. This is the second time we've had this dish at the Bistro and it was better this time than the last. The eggplant was firmer and the exterior was crunchier. The cheese was cooked until slightly brown and was chewy and perfectly seasoned. It was served on a bed of spaghetti noodles with a tomato sauce. The tomato sauce tasted like it was made from scratch using canned tomatoes and I loved it. It didn't come with any sort of bread, as pasta dishes generally do, but I flagged Paul down and asked him to bring us some rolls and we were promptly served warm wheat roll with butter on the side. I also asked our server to bring more parmesan cheese, which she did.

Eggplant Parmigiana

Dessert

Again, I forgot to get a picture. Seriously, what is wrong with me? I had to ask my good friend Gisele to take a pic of hers, since it was served after mine was long gone. She had the same dessert as Laura ordered and the man sitting across from her had ordered the same dessert as me. Of course I tried Laura's dessert and she tried mine. Both were really good.

Mixed Berry Crumble

Chocolate Cheesecake with Chocolate Ganache

Entertainment

The Bistro had an entertainer there this evening as well; Matthew Palmer played and sang for us, and he sounds amazing! The music added that extra ambiance that made it feel like a special night, rather than just any night. I felt bad because I didn't have very much cash on me so I didn't tip him as much as I wanted to. Next time I will be more prepared.

Review/Comments

It was nice, it was romantic, and it was delicious. I give the meal a 10 and the experience another 10.

Laura agreed the meal was good!

Trans Palace Take-Out

Day 117

We LOVE Chinese food because it's healthy, quick, and we have a close restaurant that caters to us with our busy schedules. It's also relatively inexpensive. And, the owner, Winnie, is a vegetarian. She is very sweet and loves to see us come in. She's chatty with Laura in particular.

Packaged Chinese food

Free Spring Rolls

The sweet lady at Trans Palace threw in two spring rolls, saying they are new to the menu. She just wanted us to try them and see what we thought. We thought they were amazing! We'll definitely be adding them to all future orders.

HAHAHA Laughing at how I rotated the pic and in turn rotated the caption. I entertain myself so easily.

A shout out to Carrie for helping me write the blog tonight. Much appreciated xo

It was good. The spring roll was awesome, and the egg rolls are always fantastic. I rate it an 8.

Boston Pizza Take-Out

Day 103

After Shovelapalooza today, Laura claimed to not feel like cooking, and since I was counting on her to do it we decided to order something. So, we went with BP. Laura ordered pizza and I got a veggie burger because I had had pizza for lunch.

Boston Pizza

Mediterranean Pizza

The Mediterranean pizza looked really good. I didn't try it, but I was kind of bummed that I didn't just split this with her.

Toppings:

  • Feta
  • Pizza Mozzarella
  • Fire-Roasted Portobello
  • Marinated Artichokes
  • Sun-Dried Tomatoes
  • Spinach
Mediterranean Pizza

Laura said it was really awesome. Might have to try it next time. Actually, you'll probably see more homemade pizza blogging before you see more BP ventures. Julie gave us a pizza stone! Perhaps we'll make our own Mediterranean pizza with fancy artichoke hearts.

Veggie Burger

These were blogged back in October, so you can check out the BP veggie burger deal there. I love the sweet potato fries...especially the excellent sauce they serve with them.

Reviews/Comments

My burger was really delicious, as usual. But, it was twice as much burger as one person can eat, especially with the sweet potato fries, so I couldn't finish it.

Laura says the pizza was really good. A 7 or 8 rating.
