Beer Battered Avocado Tacos

Day 203

Sobey's only had rotten avocados left yesterday, so I headed over to Atlantic SuperStore for my groceries tonight. Ran into my buddy, Gisele, and told her what I planned on making and I believe she approved. She even offered to donate the beer for the project, but I went to the liquor store for it since it was closer. Still, super nice gesture - thanks Gisele!

Original recipe here
Way easy to make. Washing and drying the produce seemed to take the most time. Chopped the lettuce and tomato. The avocado had to be peeled and sliced.

Beer battered avocado taco ingredients

Taco Ingredients

6 taco shells
2 avocados, sliced

Avocados

Beer Batter

1 cup flour
1 cup beer
2 tsp salt
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp Sriracha

Featuring Molson Canadian beer, this batter was super easy and fast to make. I followed the original recipe to a T but doubled it.

Beer batter ingredients

The batter was fairly thick and coated the avocado well. I heated the fat to medium high and fried each avocado slice about 3 or 4 minutes, turning once. Drank the remainder of the beer while frying (optional, but highly recommended, and I know my buddy Gisele would agree).

Avocado frying

Serve With

1 tomato
3 leaves Romaine lettuce
1 lime
Salsa
Sour cream

We filled the tacos with the tomato, lettuce and avocado. We squeezed the lime over the veggies and had the salsa and sour cream on the side.

Reviews/Comments
These were awesome. I give them a 9.5. I think they would have been even better with cilantro and a more Southwestern salsa, like the kind with beans and corn in it. But, that's just me...I'm sure Laura would disagree.

Laura: "I don't know if I ever want regular tacos again!" and also, "Um...a 42. I rate them a 42. As in the answer to life, the universe and everything."
